Based on MDF or particle board, MFB is decorated with melamine impregnated paper and treated under 300 tons pressure per sq metre, at a temperature of 200 deg. C. Red Apple has invested greatly in this Cycle Press machinery and has since imported it from the manufacturer BURKLE of GERMANY, a very well respected name all over Europe.

Solid Wood is considered as Natural Wood as opposed to MDF and particle board which is regarded as synthetic wood. Initial processing like the sizing and drying is usually done before being put into use. Although solid wood is easily crafted into any shape, it is used much less than synthetic wood in the production of Knock Down furniture. Solid Wood used by Red Apple is mainly imported from Europe and Southeast Asia. These woods are then put through a process of drying via an advance kiln or dryer to ensure that our natural wood is perfect in every detail and ready to use in the manufacturing process of the furniture with a final high quality result for the customer.

With wood grain or other patterns used to decorate the surfaces of plain boards, Red Apple uses high Gram (over 70g/m Sq) decorated paper from Chiyoda of Japan for all the maple range and Schatt-D e cor for all other types of grain used. The high quality decorative paper has clear and life like wood grain appearance, treated so as not to fade with sunlight. The decorative paper used enhances the visual effect and also when touched, it feels like wood giving it that natural feel and warmth all round.

Red Apple uses Genuine Leather Hides, processed and imported from Italy to make our Sofas and Headboards for beds. With an intricate grain all over its surface and well ventilated, the strong texture and soft touch make our leather a class above others and used by the most famous luxury motor car in the world, Rolls Royce.

Glue is generally used to attach edge board and decorative paper to wood. Red Apple uses PVAC glue from England and America. This high quality glue makes the bond between edge banding material and board edges strong, resistant to water and hot temperatures.

Edge band serves to seal board edges for decoration and protection against unfavourable elements mainly fluids. Red Apple uses Melamine edge bands from Linnemann in Germany and PVC edge bands from Rehau also in Germany. The reason for using these German companies is that they are renowned worldwide for their high quality manufacturing as like most European countries. The edge board is strong, natural looking and does not fade, peel off or distort under high temperatures.

The hardware Red Apple uses for their furniture is made from various materials and serves both for decorative purposes and functional use. This hardware is produced by Ferrari and known as the Ferrari hinge. It is manufactured to the highest grade possible and as a result, gives many years of use.The hinge is a very important feature in Red Apple’s products and has been tested in open and closed situations equaling 80000 times and is scratch proof. For the sliding rails, only the ones made of 1.2mm cold rolled steel are used as it is smooth in operation, low noise with no deformation in any way. This shows that after a long period of time, the furniture and its hardware are of high quality. This is what the customer expects from us.
